Description

The Sta-Rite U178-920P is a 1/4 inch drain plug supplied with its o-ring, used across a wide range of Sta-Rite pumps, valves and heater water systems.

The o-ring is the part that matters

The plug body is simple, but the o-ring is what actually seals against the housing. It gets compressed and released every time the plug comes out, which on most pools is at least twice a year for winterizing and opening. After enough cycles the ring takes a permanent set or cracks, and the plug that used to seal by hand suddenly weeps no matter how hard it is tightened. Buying the plug with the o-ring removes the guesswork.

Broad fitment

This plug is shown on parts diagrams for Sta-Rite ABG, JWPA, Max-E-Glas, Dura-Glas, Max-E-Glas II, Dura-Glas II, Dyna-Glas, Dyna-Max, Dura-Jet JS Series and Max-E-Pro Series pumps. Worth keeping spare

Drain plugs are the parts that go missing between seasons or strip in the hand on a cold morning. Keeping one on the shelf costs almost nothing against a pump that cannot be drained before a freeze.
