Description

The Blue Square 502004 is the o-ring for the Abyss debris containment canister. It is the genuine Blue Square part, made to the size of the groove it sits in rather than approximately right.

Why it matters

The canister collects debris only while its seal holds. Once the o-ring hardens, flattens or splits, air and water find a path past the lid and the system loses the suction it depends on. The symptoms usually look far more serious than a worn ring, which is why it is worth checking first.

Fitting

Clean the groove before fitting the new ring, look over the lid and canister body for cracks while everything is open, and put a thin film of pool rated silicone lubricant on the o-ring so it seats evenly and comes apart easily next time.
