Description

The Waterway 417-5020 is a tailpiece with a 2 inch spigot on one end and a 1-1/2 inch slip socket on the other. It is the genuine Waterway part.

Reading the ends

Spigot and slip are easy to mix up when ordering. A spigot end is machined to the outside dimension of pipe, so it drops into a 2 inch socket. A slip end is the socket itself, so 1-1/2 inch pipe glues into it. Getting this the wrong way around is the usual reason a fitting arrives and will not go together.

Fitting it

Dry assemble the run first, mark the alignment on both parts and only then clean, prime and cement. Solvent weld sets in seconds, and a fitting glued a few degrees out of line puts a permanent strain on the equipment it feeds.
