Description

The Teledyne Laars R0023200 is the high limit switch assembly for Laars gas pool heaters. It is listed with the Jandy Laars Lite and Lite2, Series 2 and Lite2 Model LJ heater parts.

What it is for

The high limit is a safety control. When the water temperature it senses goes above its setting, it opens and stops the heater firing. That is a deliberate shutdown, not a fault in itself, and it is the control that keeps a heater from cooking itself when flow drops away.

Before you replace it

A heater that trips on high limit is often reporting a flow problem rather than a bad switch. Check the filter, the valves and the pump before condemning the switch. If flow is right and the heater still shuts down early, the assembly is the part to change.
