Description

Part 14965-0028 is the plug and gasket assembly for the 1-1/2 in. Sta-Rite MultiPort valve. It is catalogued under the Sta-Rite top mount 1-1/2 in. Cristal-Flo and Waterford WC112-148 valve parts. The listing brand is Sta-Rite, and the part is also described as a genuine Pentair product under the same number; both names are carried here.

Plug and gasket as one

The plug threads into the valve body and the gasket is what actually seals it. They are supplied together because the gasket is almost always the failure and there is no sense fitting a fresh one to a plug whose threads have already been strained.

The usual failure

The gasket takes a set, hardens and stops sealing, and the valve weeps at the plug. The instinct is to tighten it, which puts all the load on the plastic threads and splits the plug. Once that happens both pieces need replacing, which is what this assembly is.
