Pool Season Filter Cleaner is a dual acting liquid filter cleaner supplied in a one quart bottle. It is made for sand, cartridge and DE filters.

Two kinds of fouling

A filter collects two things that behave differently. There is loose dirt, which backwashing or a rinse will shift. Then there are oils, grease and mineral scale, which bind into the media and stay there. That second group is what a chemical cleaner is for, and it is why a filter that has been backwashed regularly can still be blinded.

What a fouled filter costs

Filter pressure climbs and flow falls. Water can stay hazy even with chemistry that tests correctly, because the filter is passing water without taking anything out of it. Owners often reach for a clarifier at that point when the filter is the actual problem.
