Why the harness fails

A heater harness lives in the worst conditions in the equipment pad: heat from the burner tray, moisture from every rain and washdown, and rodents that treat insulation as nesting material. Over time connectors corrode, terminals loosen and insulation goes brittle.

What that looks like

Symptoms rarely announce themselves as a wiring problem. The heater lights sometimes and not others, a sensor reads wrong, a switch appears open when it is not. Technicians replace control modules and sensors chasing faults that were really a bad connection in the harness.

Fitting the kit

Because this is the factory harness, every plug lands where it should on the ignition control, the switches and the sensors. That is the practical argument for the OEM kit over splicing in generic wire: the connectors are right, and the next person to work on the heater sees what Pentair intended.
