The Hayward AXV079VP is the medium turbine and spindle gear kit, supplied with the vinyl spindle gear. It is the genuine Hayward part, packed as a set rather than as loose components.

What is in the box

Seven pieces: the medium turbine, the drive gear bushing, the vinyl spindle gear, a screw, the medium turbine axle, the intermediate gear and the intermediate gear axle. Together they make up the drive path that turns water flow into the cleaner walking pattern.

Why it is sold as a kit

These parts wear against each other. A turbine with rounded vanes, a bushing with play in it and a gear with worn teeth all produce the same symptom, a cleaner that moves slowly, stalls or wanders. Fitting one new piece against worn mating parts usually returns the fault within a season, so Hayward supplies the whole set.

Before you order

Two things to check. First, the turbine size, since Hayward uses more than one across this family and this kit is the medium. Second, the spindle gear, since this kit carries the vinyl gear.
