Description

The Waterway Plastics 640-4740 V is a universal grate with a 12 in. by 12 in. white face. Waterway lists it as a flat grate, and the product notes add that the face carries a slight dome, so it sits just proud rather than dead level.

What universal means here

Universal refers to the pattern, not to the size. The grate still has to cover the opening beneath it, so the useful step before ordering is to measure the sump and compare it against the 12 in. by 12 in. face.

Why grates get replaced

Grates take sun, chemicals and foot traffic. They fade, they get brittle, and fasteners break out of the corners. A grate that is cracked or loose is worth changing rather than patching.
